1967 Ford Galaxie Back To Gallery

The Galaxie arrived back from London with a non-starting issue and a slight noise from the front wheel
The noise was quickly found to be a failed front wheel bearing
We also found the cause of the knocking over rough roads, the rear caliper conversion was hitting the chassis leg.
The decision was made to go right through the car replacing every bush and ball joint.
It was also decided to fit complete brake conversion as, along with the rear calipers hitting the chassis, the homemade brake conversion wasn't really upto the job of stopping the car.
6 piston front and 4 piston rear calipers were chosen.
Whilst all the rest of the work was being carried out it was decided to convert to a rack an pinion steering set-up as all the original components were past their best.
Whilst the low ride height looked good, having been done with cut springs it gave practicality issues, including the gearbox crossmember getting caught regularly.
The gearbox crossmember was straightened out, cleaned and painted, a new transmission mount was also fitted.
